What is the Best Way to Display Your Baseball and Football Card Collection?

It seemed like as I jumped into more card breaks, or bought more hobby boxes, the really cool cards I hit just went into storage boxes I had in my closet. This didn’t seem right to me, as I wanted to see my new treasured hits! So, I wrestled with the this question over and over, “How do I display my football card collection on my wall?”.

I searched high and low, asked questions in my Facebook Group, did Google searches, made inquiries at local card shows, until I found the right solution. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a display, but I also wanted it to look good. Then, I finally found the perfect, inexpensive solution!

I found my solution at Lowes Hardware, but I presume these Vinyl Siding Trim pieces are available at most hardware stores. You buy them in 150 inch runs and they come in several colors to match your decor and super easy to install!

You can easily cut them to size using a standard hack saw with a fine blade. Any rough edges you can sand off using sanding paper. And, if you aren’t the best handyman (like me), you don’t have to worry about cutting them a touch too short, as the cards will cover up any mistakes, as well as the screws themselves. The trim pieces have many slots which makes it easy to decide where to drill your screws. I recommend measuring enough space between rungs to allow for both toploaded cards as well as graded cards (something I wish I had done a better job on!). Make sure you use a level to prevent crooked rungs.

Because they are quite light, you can just use 1” screws to screw them into drywall and don’t need any special hardware like drywall anchor bolts.

This is a fun and simple project that makes a clean, professional installation and will make you proud to show off your collection! If you use this idea, please join the Gross Card Breaks Facebook group and post up a pic!
